Vivi

Did this a few days ago after Vincent, it's a speed painting much as he was. Drawing someone else's creation in a style uncommon to them or in a theme you feel fits them is a fun hobby and practice for me. I find it to be a fun practice and something that can both have a lot of thought and done just to relax and have fun. Also, as a huge fan of the Final Fantasy series, I thought while working on stressful work (film, comic, etc.) I should do some speed paintings. Perhaps I'll do zidane next? the characters from the 9th game are severely underrated.

unless anyone has a request for who to draw, I tend to stick with my favorites of the games and don't really go outside of them.

Death Penalty

I've been a fan of the Final Fantasy series almost as long as I've been alive (raised by Nintendo, that would be me). So out of nowhere while working on my comic, this just happened. It's like I blinked and I had a painting in front of me. At any rate, speed painting of Vincent Valentine from Final Fantasy 7 (My favorite character from the entirety of the series right after Vivi)

Harvest Noon

for layout class. Unfortunately I ended up missing the day this was due when I woke up with a migraine. argh, dan, i'm sorry! i'll bring it in next class. My favorite season is fall, my favorite holiday is Halloween... but I love Fall in general. Please don't ever take the beautiful palette of this season for granted. I love drawing Maddy, I'm actually excited to animate her.

Bye Bye Blackbird

Two images with nothing in common. One is a development piece for my second year film, also a layout assignment... the other one is Amelia being Amelia. and Zel being sad... which is more or less Zel being Zel. It was a gift for Sam King.

Exit > Running

Her little hair-flick is actually in homage of Lina Inverse's hair from Slayers. I thought it was appropriate since we've managed to watch nearly the entire series in as little as a month. Here's a quick drawing of her while i'm up sick and failing to storyboard/plan layouts.

In my failure, at least, i've collected a happy amount of reference. 1920s, children's rooms - messy children's rooms - winter and old tin toys.

Hey Diddle Diddle

The Cat and the Fiddle.

Thomas plays a mournful melody in remembrance of his beloved soulmate who was caught by a string maker only days before. Unable to bear the weight of grief at losing her, the last thing he could do was steal the strings woven from her gut. He now plays to remember her as they can be together in song.

For Dan's layout class using the prompt of a washing machine (the one pictured here is an early 1600s model), a violinist and a chair. It should be noted that Catgut String is a misnomer as the strings were actually made out of cattle, sheep or goat gut. But I prefer the play on words and, being a person who loves cats, found this story more tragic when using the term literally.

Layout class.

Xelloss

Three different styles of the same character. I watched all of Slayers recently with my friends and I've always found him quite fun to draw, so I played with it and had fun.

Old stuff, Creatures and Critters

Work from Leo Hobaica's Color and Design class. Funny enough, the Baba Yaga painting was stolen and then magically returned to me at the end of the year. I actually have no idea where the 5 foot painting of the snakes is.

Angela Lansbury and George Hearn as Mrs Lovett and Sweeney Todd.

Someday I will make this movie. Just you wait.

Done for Basic Perspective - Patience is a virtue.

I thought I would actually try updating my blog. This is a test-post. Some old things that I did during my first year. Not really a huge fan of it, but there you are.
